Anne Frank's ''Secret Annexe'' got regularly visited by the chimney sweeper. Perhaps hers more often than others, as constant smoke came through the chimney. At least eight people need a lot of burning going on to keep warm, burn up rubbish, and cook food.
So, very possible Anne Frank greeted her Chimney Sweeper who would have to enter the ''secret annexe'' to get up on the roof and get his job done. Hence, the ''Secret Annexe'' was no longer a Secret Annexe, but just an ordinary living quarter, like so many around, of people who realized, that, to make such a place ''secret'', would be a very foolish thing to do. Unless you of course, just were doing so for playing with your children.
